About-Him Devotional 09-30-01 Http://About-Him.Com   Ephesians 5:16  Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 . Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.   Yes, the days are certainly evil. It's easy to personify evil in the face of one such as bin Laden. We can also read the description of "perilous times" in II Timothy 3:1-5 and readily apply it to our society as a whole. Yes, bin Laden and what he represents is truly evil, and unregenerated men are more evil everyday. I can't do a lot to change this but I can: Wake up! - My salvation is nearer than when I first believed (Romans 13:11). Redeem the time  - We have a gospel to preach. We can't make a difference in our own strength, The battle will be won, not by might or power, but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6 ). To fight the battle effectively, we need the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Seek to discern the will of the Lord - We know that He is not willing that any perish  , but that all come to repentance ( II Peter 3:9). Jesus did not come to condemn, but to save (John 3:17). Above all: Be certain that no evil is in my heart. When looking for evil, I must look in my own heart first and follow the example of the Psalmists (below).   Psalms 139:23  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:    Psalms 51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13  Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.   In About-Him   Check out our new Scripture Postcards which you can send to a friend with your own attached message.
