Psalms 103:1 ¶ <<[A
Psalm] of David.>> Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me,
[bless] his holy name.
It was
quite an emotional thing to see the World Series crowd at Yankee Stadium stand
during the 7th inning stretch as a singer gave a stirring rendition of God
Bless America.
How much more stirring and
effective would it be if the same group were to raise their hands and
voices to heaven and praise Almighty God for the blessings that He has
continually poured out upon this country in spite of our disobedience and moral
decay?
It is necessary that we
recognise that recent events are a part of the battle that has been raging since
satan was cast out of heaven (Ephesians 6:12). David told Goliath that the
battle is the Lord's, and the Lord does not save by sword and spear
(1 Samuel 17:47
).
Do we really want God to
bless America? Repentance is the key. Let us bless Him with all of our soul and
might, confessing and forsaking our sin. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and
will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

While the war in Afghanistan
naturally gets our attention, let us not forget:
The 8 women held by the Taliban
accussed of promoting Christianity.
18 Christians were gunned down in

A big Christian rally in India is
planned for tomorrow. The Indian government has cancelled permission because of
western Christian involvment. It is quite possible that there will be civil
disobedience and possible bloodshed.
A nationwide conference of all
religious parties in Russia will be held at Christ Church - St. Petersburg
Russia tomorrow in an effort to determine the role of religion in that
nation. This is promoted by the Gorbachev party and will include many
other groups other than Christianity. Obviously the attempt will be to speak
with one religious voice. Please pray for the truly Christian
represenatives.
