John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. In our hour of sadness, it is
heartening that our president called for a National Day of Prayer. We certainly
pray for the grieving and those closely affected by this tradegy. We also pray
for those in power that they will be submissive to the will of God and listen
for and to His voice.
I was happy to see Rev. Franklin
Graham state on Good Morning America that this nation must return to
the God they had forgotten and trust in His Son Jesus Christ. We pray that this
country will return to the God whose name cannot be mentioned in our schools or
His law posted in our courtrooms. We pray that we as a nation will repent of our
immorality, and that we as a church will repent of having presented a causal
non-offensive gospel, geared more to our personal gratification than to
presenting the gospel of the kingdom of God. Yes we pray that God will bless
America but we know that His blessing is contingent on obeying His Word and His
will.
I am disturbed by the trend I see developing toward multi-faithism. In
other words, "You call upon your God and I'll call upon mine; just don't get too
emphatic about His name." The news media which ordinarily sneers at the
so-called "Christian Right" is suddenly sounding very religious as they promote
unity and understanding between diverse faiths. However, as the scriptures above
show, Jesus stated that He and He alone was the only way to God. He also told us
in Luke 21:12-17 that the time was coming that we would be percecuted,
imprisoned, and hated of all men for His name's
sake.
His name and His name alone
will save us, or we will be lost, consummed and destroyed.
