About-Him Devotional 07-07-2001
In II Chronicles 20 we read that
Judah was overwhelmed because they were being invaded by three different
enemies at the same time. King Jehoshaphat did the only thing he could do.
He cried out to the Lord and reminded Him:
Of God's sovereignty over all the
kings of the earth (v 6).
Of Judah's commitment to call on
the Lord, in the time of trouble, from the temple where God had placed His name
(v9).
Jehoshaphat confessed their utter
helplessness.
II Chronicles 20:12 O our
God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company
that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon
thee.
God gave the answer, an assurance
of victory.
II Chronicles
20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem,
and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor
dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but
God's.
Judah met the oncoming armies with
a group of singers praising the Lord for the beauty of His holiness. God
intervened and destroyed the enemy.
21 And when he had consulted with
the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the
beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the
LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and
to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and
mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were
smitten.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Is
the enemy attacking from all directions? It is not your battle to fight! Do what
Jehoshaphat did.
God is aware of every situation.
If we will acknowledge His supremacy , call upon His name and praise Him for the
beauty of His holiness, He will intervene and fight the battle for
us.

A friend pulls over at the gas
station, gets out of her car, opens the hood, and checks the engine
oil.
After a few seconds, she takes the dipstick in her hand and walks up to the attendant. "Excuse me sir, but can I buy a longer dipstick?" "May I ask why you need a longer one ma'am?" "Because this one isn't long enough to reach the oil!" Keep Looking Up! Don & Marie Spooner About Him! Ministries Your thoughts and Inquiries Contact@about-him.com Subscribe to this devotional?
