About-Him Devotional 05-19-01 http://about-him.com   1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:   An old song of the church says, "This World Is Not My Home, I'm Just A Passing Through." John defines the world as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. He flatly states that if we love the world, the love of the Father is not in us. The world will pass away, but if we do the will of the Father, we will live forever (I John 2:15-17). That's food for thought because most of us are very very comfortable in this world. Paul tells us to set our affections on things above and not on things of the earth (Colossians 3:1-2). Revelation tells us that a time is coming when men, regardless of class and station in life are going to cry for the rocks and mountains to fall on them, to hide them from the wrath of the Lord Jesus (Revelation 6:15-16). We are pilgrims. We are passing through this world. Our affection is on heavenly things. We are looking for the appearance of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.   Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.   Humor   A husband said to his wife, 'No I don't hate your relatives.
