About-Him Devotional 05-13-01 http://about-him.com   I Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.   An old song of the church says, Take Your Burdens To The Lord And Leave Them There. We all live in a pressure cooker. The demands of family, finance, job, church, temptation, sin, sickness, etc. etc. are ever increasing. When I feel overwhelmed: By infirmity -- I must remember that He Himself took my infirmity and bore my sickness (Matthew 8:17). By the adversary -- I must remember that He voluntarily took part of death that He might destroy the devil (Heb. 2:14). By pressing need -- I must remember that I have the right to come boldly to His throne to present my petition (Heb. 4:16). By sin and weakness -- I must remember that He feels for me because He can identify with me (Heb. 4:15). Friends may care, but chances are that they are in worse shape than we are. Few and far between are the friends that you can share your heart with. However, we do have a Savior, a High Priest, a Confessor, a Healer, who bore all of our pain and frustration on the cross. He is our intercessor, our burden bearing, and most of all He truly loves and cares for us. He truly wants us to make it, and we will.   Hebrews 2:17  Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.   In About-Him    If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again We're rather partial to the old hymns.
