About-Him Devotional 5-05-2001
Luke 9:46 Then there arose a
reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
47 And Jesus, perceiving the
thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,
48 And said unto them, Whosoever
shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me
receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall
be great.
Unfortunately, the spirit of
self-elevation is still prevalent in the church today and none of us are immune
from it's devastating effects. We all want to be appreciated and receive our
just due for the things we have done. This raises some
questions:
We will all stand before the
judgement seat of Christ and answer for the deeds done in the flesh. This won't
necessarily be a pleasant time, even though one is saved from eternal damnation.
Every thought and motive will be examined and every missed opportunity that we
had to humble ourselves and be a servant will be brought to our attention.
Likewise, every action done in the name of Jesus such as giving a cup of water,
will not be without reward. ( II Cor. 5:10; Mt. 25:34-40).
