About-Him.Com Devotional 04-21-01 Luke 9:24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any
man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will
save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall
find it.
Discipleship is not easy
and it is not without cost. The context of these verses show that Jesus had just
foretold his own death and was stating that we must be willing to die also. This
sounds strange to us in countries such as the U.S. where we have religious
freedom. It is a different story in countries such as Saudi Arabia, The Sudan
and Indonesia , where Christians are in a minority. There if you say, "I am a
Christian," you are laying your life and well being on the
line.
In this regard, Henry and
Ann Jones will be ministering in Indonesia until the end of May. Those who
would desire to overthrow the present political regime are planning civil unrest
on April 29 and 30. In the past Christians have been the target of these forces,
and are likely to be targeted again. Please pray for the Joneses and those in
Indonesia who have taken a stand for the name of Jesus.
