About-Him Devotional 4-7-2001

Shortly after the resurrection, Peter and John healed a lame man, by the power of the name of Jesus. This caught the notice of those who had crucified Jesus.

Acts 4:19   But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to  hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

Peter's answer certainly caught their attention and is worthy of ours.

20  For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

What a transformation!
  • Peter and John had been to the empty tomb and viewed the folded graveclothes (John 21:6-7).
  • Jesus had appeared to them through locked doors and showed them His scarred hands and side (John 21:19-20).
  • They had spent 40 days in an intensive seminar with the risen Savior as He spoke of things pertaining to the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3).
  • They had received the promised Holy Ghost infilling (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4) and were forever changed.
  • The same transforming power is available to us today (Acts 2:38-39).
Next Week: Many infallible proofs.

Humor

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, 5, and Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,"Let my brother have the first pancake. I can  wait."

Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you be Jesus."

Keep Looking Up!
