Devotional 03-24-2001 Matthew 21:9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. We know the story of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem a week prior to His cruxifiction. Many of the crowd still entertained the notion of Him being an earthly king. The question is where were these people in the days that followed? Even Jesus' disciples fled for fear.. After feeding the 5000 Jesus had sought solitude because the people would have made Him a king by force(John 6:15). Shortly after many had gone to great effort to locate Him, but Jesus rebuked their motives, saying that they were only interested in the loaves and fishes (John 6:26). After His cruxificition some expressed regret, only in the fact that he could not be king (Luke 24:21). Let us consider, lest we be of the same mind. What are our motives in serving Jesus? Is it His agenda or ours?
