http://about-him.com   Devotional 02-17-2001   Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house. And the priest could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord's house (II Chron. 7:1-2).   As we stand in worship tomorrow, it may be good to remember the dedication of Solomon's temple as related in II Chron. 5 - 7.   Some key points: Firstly, many blood sacrifices were made symbolizing our repentance and asking forgiveness. We cannot approach God's holiness without a blood covering. The priests and Levites, singers and musicians and all the people offered sustained praise to God as with one voice. God consumed the sacrifice with fire from heaven, showing His favor and acceptance. When we, like the early church on the day of Pentecost, are so totally focused on the cross of Christ and His resurrection that we offer praise to God in one mind and one accord, the fire of the Holy Ghost will fall, individually and collectively.
