Http://About-Him.Com/ My Thoughts on the Life of Christ, from His Baptism to His Ascension. Happy New Year! See How to Have a H.... . Another year! Time really flies, doesn't it? Actually it seems to move faster every year. I remember when I was a boy (yes, we did have electricity and telephones back then), time seemed to move very slowly. It seemed like my next birthday would never come. After I had been eight years old for six months, I would proudly announce that I had arrived at the ripe age of eight and a half. It seemed like the school year would never end, and then summer vacation became a drag as the days drug slowly on towards the new school year. The three years between the time that I graduated from high school at eighteen and when I would officially be a man at twenty one seemed like an eternity. Anybody identify with this? I thought so. I've never been much for New Years resolutions, but it never hurts to have a time of reflection for what has past and what lies ahead. This also prompts a few thoughts which I hope to share. This could be the year that Jesus returns. Wouldn't that be glorious? However, if He doesn't we are one year closer to our ultimate end i.e. death (Hebrews 9:27). Job stated our life on this earth would be but a few troubled days (Job 14:1), we came into this world naked and would leave it in like fashion. Ecclesiastes adds that when we go, we won't be taking anything with us (Job 1:21; Ecclesiastes 5:15, 9:10). We remember what God told the rich man who thought that he would skate through life depending on his earthly possessions. Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? Jesus stated that He had to finish the work of His Father while it was yet day. The night was coming when nobody would be able to work(John 9:4). I believe that night is quickly coming upon us (II Timothy 2:1-5). Thus we are urged to redeem the time (Ephesians 5:16, Colossians 4:5). We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to answer for the deeds done in this flesh, whether good or bad (Romans 14:12; II Corinthians 5:10). That can be a joyous time or not so joyous. That's up to us! We wish each and everyone a blessed and happy new year in Christ Jesus. In About-Him
