While God's promised mercy is heavily mentioned in the Old Testament. Grace, or mercy put in action, is more of a New Testament theme. Because of God's mercy, He saved us, and extended grace to us. Grace is used in two ways in the New Testament, saving grace and grace that enables us to carry out God's plan and labor for His Kingdom.

The prophets saw this time of grace in which we live.

1 Peter 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Jesus, the eternal Word of God, was full of God's grace.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
